Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he will try to sign a new striker before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.
Wenger has been monitoring the situation of Spanish striker David Villa at Barcelona who has been linked with a move to north London on several occasions and the Arsenal manager is set to make another check on whether the Catalan’s will let Striker leave.
The Gunners have also been linked with Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic whiles Atletico Madrid’s Adrian Lopez is a long-term target.
Wenger confirmed he is hunting for another striker after his side won over Championship side Brighton yesterday.
When Asked if he needs to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes, Wenger said:
“Quality-wise, no. But number-wise we are maybe a bit short.
“It will not be easy, though, because you do not find strikers who are good enough to play for us on the street.”
“I cannot promise we will sign anybody today,tomorrow, Tuesday or on Wednesday because at the moment we are not close to anything,” added Wenger.
“It is not about optimism. How realistic I am is most important.”
Giroud now has 13 goals and nine assists for Arsenal, having followed up his brace against West Ham with another double against Brighton.
“It has been a good week for Giroud’s confidence,” said Wenger. “He gives us presence in the box and is always dangerous.
“We had a slow start against Brighton, but we were much better in the second half and created a lot of good chances.
“In the FA Cup, you need to go through to the
next round so we did our job.”

As for me i dnt think we need anoda striker cos we already av podolski, giroud, walcott nd gervinho. What i think we need is a qood defensive midfielder.
My advice to boss arsen wenger is, he should try to sign at least two player one good striker and one mildfilder. Good day
I think Wenger is loosing a point when he said quality wise that we dnt need a striker,bcs Giroud am yet to see him lifting us on a big match accepted he has score coupple of great goals but with another quality striker I think Arsenal will not only have an option but there will be challenges within the players to pull up there socks and train harder bcs no1 will want to be left out in a big match.

A new striker would take pressure of our two lads Giroud and Walcott. Personally I like the rumours of Benteke. Outside of that I would rather wait for a quality striker than taking another gamble and getting an average Joe. I was also frustrated watching the West Ham game as our passing game in midfield is so much better when we put Ramsey and Wilsh together. Abou holds the ball just that bit too long and it often kills our mojo as our strikers over run the offside line. I’d like to see Ramsey and Eisfield get more game time and rather look at maybe buying someone to support Gibbs if he gets injured as tbh Santos attacking wise has a great boot but scares me on defence.
