Frimpong eyes loan deal upon return from injury and squashes transfer rumours

Emmanuel Frimpong probably best known for saying the word dench or for frimponging Van der Vaart last season has had a busy few weeks in the backpages of the tabloids. Recently he was supposed to be unhappy at Arsenal and thinking about either transferring out or leaving at the end of the season as his contract was up.

Fortunately like any dedicated player Frimpong took to twitter straight away to reconfirm his happiness at Arsenal and his long term desire to make it at Arsenal. To discredit these random rumours even more he announced he wasn’t in his last year of his contract, he however did say he would be looking to leave on loan soon.

He has recently been linked with a loan deal to Ipswich but today the Wolves manager came out and announced potential interest in Frimpong if he returned from his current minor setback at full strength. These quotes were on the Wolves website and I saw them on arseblog.com

“The situation is he wants to come to us. But at the moment, he’s coming back from injury that he got when he was here last season.“So he’s been out for eight months and he has another small injury now and he hasn’t played in Arsenal reserves’ last two or three games.

“I think he has to get back to his best because he’s only between 70 and 85 per cent fit which makes it hard for a midfielder such as David Davis, who is waiting for his chance.“If we brought in Frimpong now and he isn’t 100 per cent, he’d be in the way of Davis and what does it say about him?”

“He can be a possibility for us in January when things might look differently. I’m sure Frimpong will be 100 per cent fit by then if he doesn’t get another injury.“We’ve seen him in reserve games and in the Capital One Cup so we have control of the situation. But at the moment, I think our players here can do that job.“I think Arsenal is the club for him now to get back to 100 per cent fitness. If he hasn’t joined another club in January then maybe he’s a player for us.”

It is well known Frimpong enjoyed his time at Wolves last season and picked up 5 appearances before his season was curtailed with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. In a recent interview he said he was not good enough for Arsenal at the moment and that is why he was looking for a loan move.

As much as I love Frimpong’s dedication and heart it is yet to see whether he has the technical ability to make it at Arsenal. I love true Arsenal boys like Wilshere, Jenkinson and Frimpong but he has high competition for a place in center-midfield with Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla, Diaby, Coquelin, Rosicky, Ramsey all ahead of him and players like Eisfield and Aneke not far behind. Hopefully he will come back all the better from his eventual loan spell which I’m sure he will take in January.

Do you see Frimpong at the club long term, if so who do you see leaving instead?
