Giroud’s a Gooner, Bendtner Banned, and Robin Goes on Holiday.

Well it’s official, according to Sky Sports(a credible source you will agree) Olivier Giroud has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, following a fee being agreed by both parties. However it will not be made official until after the Euro’s this now appears to be another transfer completed. Many will now speculate as to the future of Robin, with Arsenal having now signed Two Left Footed Strikers. However in my opinion, Giroud is a replacement for Chamackh, in a deal which replicates Koscielny’s in as much as a player(Coquelin) went in the opposite direction, although it was a loan.

Podolski as seen as a replacement for our old friend Andrey Arshavin, who today sparked a furore of criticism and abuse when declaring Russia’s departure from Euro 2012 was the “fans problem”.
Of course don’t expect Robin’s contract to be sorted asap, he has had a long arduous season, and fully deserves a long holiday, so no movement on that front will be seen for at least six weeks.
In other news Nicklas Bendtner has been hit by UEFA with a £80’000 fine and a one match ban for revealing an unofficial sponsor on his boxer shorts, following a goal celebration against Portugal. Now I don’t exactly sympathize with the great Dane, but it shows how messed up and corrupt UEFA is, that they would value an “advertising ambush” the same as five seperate cases of Racism by a clubs “supporters”.(£16’000 fine handed to FC Porto this year for Racist abuse by their fans directed at Mario Ballotelli) Needless to say many in the footballing world are miffed by this decision.
Back to Arsenal, and the news is pretty quite, bar the above, however the Premier League fixture’s are out and we start our campaign at home to Sunderland. Not the most difficult opening game, but win you consider we then play Stoke away, followed by Chelsea, Liverpool and the champions City, in our first six games, it would be foolish to dismiss the possibility of a similar start like last season, however I am more confident this season, mainly because the squad will be more settled, no last minute signings, or last ditch departure’s(touch wood).

If we can make it to March and still be in the hunt for silverware then I think we will have as good a chance as any.
