Arsenal January In’s And Out’s

Not surprised about our Winter deals because I saw this coming, I know most of the Arsenal fans hoped Wenger would strengthen the squad after a disappointing January that saw us pick up zero League points and the numbers of injuries we suffered.

I did expect the our staff to bring in some talents to help push qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League competition but All that did happen was the signing of 19 year-old German attacking midfielder Thomas Eisfelder from Brussia Dortmund.

Well lets hope he becomes the hottest talent at Arsenal, below is the list of In’s And Out’s of Arsenal.

IN’s

Thomas Eisfeld (£600,000 from Borussia Dortmund)

The 19-year-old has shown significant promise at youth level with the Bundesliga club, catching the eye of the Gunners’ scouting network with six goals and six assists in his 12 appearances for the Under-19s this term.

Eisfeld, who was part of Dortmund’s ‘BVB Academy’ for seven years and can play in a variety of positions, has featured at youth level for the German national team, captaining the Under-15s side.

He becomes the latest in a series of players to make the switch from Borussia Dortmund to north London, following in the footsteps of Tomas Rosicky and Jens Lehmann.

After completing his move to the Gunners, Eisfeld said:

“I feel very proud to have signed for Arsenal. This is a great club, with many great players, and I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal.

“It’s a real honour to be team mates with the great players at Arsenal, and also training everyday with players like Tomas Rosicky – who I grew up watching play at Dortmund. I will give it everything I have here and do my best to make the manager, players and fans happy.

“I would also like to thank Borussia Dortmund, where I played for the last seven years, for everything they have done for me. I had a great time there, and there were many wonderful coaches who helped me get to where I am today.”

Thierry Henry (loan from New York Red Bulls)

Henry, who made 370 appearances for the Club and is the Gunners’ all-time leading goalscorer with 226 goals, has been maintaining his fitness at London Colney since November during the MLS off-season.

Speaking about the deal, Arsène Wenger, said:

“I am very happy. It was my desire and Thierry’s desire. We will have Thierry for January and in February.

Then he will go back to the United States. I am sure during these two months he will be a massive asset to the team in the dressing room and on the pitch. He can be relaxed, not under too much pressure and be a tremendous help to the team.”

After signing the loan deal, Henry said:

“It is unreal to be honest. But when it comes to Arsenal my heart will always do the talking. Once I knew the plan behind it I was OK with it. I am not coming here to be a hero or prove anything. I am just coming here to help. People have to understand that. Marouane and Gervinho are going to the Africa Cup of Nations, so I was asked to fill in the gap. It is a loan deal and I’ll be on the bench most of the time. If I can make the bench that is! The Boss has a team here already who are doing something good. I am just going to be part of the squad.

Henry continued:

“I want to send a message to the fans of New York Red Bulls as well. I always said I would not play in Europe again. But it is hard for me when it comes to Arsenal. I am not coming here for the whole season, I will be back and I want to win the MLS Cup with the Red Bulls. I hope it is a win-win situation where I can help Arsenal and come back fit for the MLS season.”

Sanchez Watt (loan to Crawley)
